By bus: At 5 a.m., a bus leaves everyday for El Rama and costs around $7.00. The ride takes about four to five hours and can be slow and bumpy. The bus from El Rama to Pearl Lagoon returns around 4:30 p.m. There is also a bus from Pearl Lagoon to Kukra Hill that goes back and forth four times a day and costs $2.50.
By water: The first boat to Bluefields from Pearl Lagoon leaves the wharf at 6:30 a.m. every day, but it is advisable to arrive half an hour early. The second one leaves between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., depending on when it fills up. Tickets cost $8.00 and should be purchased one day in advance. Three boats a day go to Pearl Lagoon from Bluefields at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. The ride takes 45-55 minutes.
