Generally speaking, Little Corn is quite safe in terms of violent crime. Visitors to the budget hostels on the East side should beware of Dennis, a shifty character that hangs out around there and has a reputation for scamming travelers in order to feed his cocaine addiction. Any money given to him will disappear. Do not believe him if he claims to work for any of the hotels.
The absence of development means that, after nightfall, the island quickly turns pitch-black. If you're going somewhere after 5 p.m., be sure and bring a flashlight. You don't want to be caught in the interior of the island without one.
