With so many things to see and do in the Granada region, and so much to appeal to a variety of interests and budgets, the only challenge in Granada will be deciding what to do.
For the physically active there are hiking tours to Vocán Mombacho, kayaking tours around Las Isletas or visits to Laguna de Apoyo (sports at the lake range from swimming to paragliding).
There are also ample opportunities for nature lovers to see many different species of wildlife, animals that are unique to Nicaragua, as they wander around the Granada region.
Archeology buffs can visit the statuary and petroglyph sites on the islands of Zapateria and Ometepe. These volcanic islands will also appeal to the amateur geologist.
Many tour companies, located in and around Granada’s Parque Central, can arrange the transportation and accommodations for day or overnight trips to these regions and most offer English-speaking guides. Check for student and group discounts.
