Pueblos Blanco

While probably not the highlight of a trip to Granada, Pueblos Blancos can be a nice side trip for a few hours. The bus takes around one hour to reach Catarina, where it is difficult to spot the famed white houses but it is interesting to see the childhood home of revolutionary hero Augusto C. Sandino, a house by the main park which is marked with a mural. Continue on from there and you will find the mirador, with a great view over the expansive crater of Lake Apoyo, across to Volcan Mombacho and out to Granada in the distance. There are also pottery and crafts to buy in the area.
