440 Calle La Calzada

Charming Granadino hosts Roberto and Christina have just built four new guests rooms at the back of their lovely colonial home on Calle La Calzada. It is right in the heart of all the action in Granada – bars and restaurants are plentiful here, and it’s only minutes away from the Parque Central.

Rates range between $15 per night for a single and $35 per night for a more spacious and modern double room; all options include en-suite shower and private toilet. The prices also include a substantial breakfast. Christina will have pretty much whatever you fancy prepared for you – from fresh fruits and cereal to pancakes, to traditional Nicaraguense gallo pinto, eggs and cheese.

The owners keep the rooms and casa in general spotlessly clean and meticulously tended. Perhaps the best thing about staying here is the warm and authentic homestay feeling that guests enjoy, making it a perfect accommodation choice for anyone hoping to practice their Spanish or to get a sense of family life in Nicaragua.

Indeed, Christina’s brother, Bayardo Corea-Cuadra (552-4684/3227) offers individually tailored Spanish lessons for $5 per hour in the casa, and students are likely to find the comfy hammocks out in the courtyard an ideal spot to do their tarea, or homework.
