Charming and central, Hostal Dorado offers clean and new dorms as well as cosy private rooms. Comfy hammocks are set around a charming little garden. Guests are offered free internet (wifi) as well as coffee and tea, but, unlike similarly-priced area accommodations, there is a lack of common area facilities. The hostel also has a book exchange, DVDs and a laundry service. Private rooms are available for between $12 to $25, but you can find nicer rooms for cheaper across the park.

Awesome Hostel - Awesome Cause
The proceeds of this hostal go to a program that supports the educational and emotional needs of street kids in Nicaragua. $20 private room with shared bath, but we booked ahead and they ran out of those, so we got a private bath for that price! Very quaint courtyard with hammocks. Free coffee all day, free internet, friendly staff. Shared bathrooms are a little gnarly. We went in November-- it was very hot and rooms were poorly ventilated, though there are multiple fans in the rooms. Water and power were shut off sporadically during our stay, which we were told happens in Granada during hot spells. Awesome location 1.5 blocks from the park.
