While visiting Managua, there are a few attractions you shouldn’t miss.
•Teatro Ruben Dario: One of the few structures that didn’t get destroyed in the earthquake of 1972, the Teatro Ruben Dario is Nicaragua’s center for the arts. Opened in 1969 to commemorate its namesake (the famous Nicaraguan poet) its interior contains an elegance that is seldom seen in buildings elsewhere in Central America.
•Laguna Tiscapa: Visiting the lagoon in the center of the city is a great way to spend an afternoon. There are a few restaurants that provide views of the foliage and water below, or if you’re more adventurous, take a zip line tour.
•Plaza de la Revolución: Comprised of classical structures that offer a glimpse into Nicaragua’s history, the Plaza de la Revolución is a worthwhile place to wander and take in some national culture.
•Promenade La Galería: Behind La Galería shopping center is a promenade of bars and restaurants that fills up with diners in the warm evenings. Take a seat in one of the many outdoor patios and enjoy a meal from the variety of restaurants.
