For weary travelers, finding Best Western Hotel Las Mercedes across from the airport is a bit like being greeted at the arrival gate by a friend. The sprawling complex (with 196 rooms, spa, beauty salon, two pools, three private parking lots, five conference rooms and a gym) is typical Best Western, with tropical twists such as birds of paradise in the lobby. The hotel is currently undergoing a slow, but extensive, renovation to the older rooms and corridors. Although the yet-to-be-updated sections of the hotel are a bit down in the heel, with low ceilings and peeling paint, all of the rooms are clean and comfortable. All the rooms have air conditioning and cable TV. The many Best Western amenities include WiFi, a computer room and car rental agencies in the lobby.
