Casa Vanegas is on a prominent corner near the Tica bus station, you might be lead there by one of the persistently helpful street people. The rooms are stark white and clean, with matrimonial beds, but the well-trafficked hospedaje has started to feel a little worn (especially compared to newer places in the area). That the walls don’t quite meet the ceilings in the shared bathroom can also make a toilet run feel a bit too outdoorsy. Still, Vanegas is quiet, safe (the outer doors are locked at 10 p.m.) and has a friendly, helpful staff. There is also internet for $1 per hour.
