As a transportation hub, Jinotepe is easy to reach and to leave. Minibuses from Diriamba cost C$5 and leave at short intervals during the day, usually whenever they’re full. Once you’re in Jinotepe, head to the central marketplace and follow the line of vendors across the Interamericana to the main terminal. Jinotepe has abundant taxis and minibuses to all local locations (minibuses leave most regularly to Managua’s UCA: C$23, 50 minutes, every 10 to 15 minutes from 5:30 am to 10 pm; to Diriamba: C$5, 7 minutes, every 15 to 20 minutes from 6 am to 7 pm; and to Masaya: C$15, 50 minutes, every 15 minutes from 5 am to 6 pm). Large, slow buses known as “locales” leave the dusty terminal for destinations such as Managua (C$20, 1 hour 20, every 15 to 20 minutes from 5 am to 9 pm), Granada (C$16.50, 50 minutes, every 40 minutes from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm), Masaya (C$13, 1 hour 20, every 10 minutes from 5 am to 6 pm), and Diriamba/Nandime (C$5/C$9, 35 minutes, every 25 minutes from 5 am to 6 pm).
