Masaya and los Pueblos (Nicaragua) do not have as many accommodation options as in cities with an established history of tourism (Leon, Granada and San Juan del Sur, for example). Smaller towns have only one or two hotels, if they have any at all. Since the demand is relatively low, the area hotels and hospedajes have very reasonable rates. In Masaya, you can find a private room with a shared bathroom for $5 or less. Try basing yourself in a city that has a solid transportation system and exploring the surrounding towns from there.
