Getting To and From Nicaragua

There are three possible ways to travel from and to Nicaragua.

Cars or Buses to and from Nicaragua

For lovers of mass transit and sustainable tourism, taking a bus to get between Nicaragua and Costa Rica or Honduras, is always a popular option. It is an opportunity to get to know some of the country and experience some of the local flavor.

Driving a car is a great way to be an independent traveler. There some additional fees and a bit of extra hassle, but don't be put off. Driving into Nicaragua is a manageable feat.

Ferries to and from Nicaragua

One of the more interesting ways of getting between Costa Rica or El Salvador and Nicaragua is by taking one of several different boat and ferry services.

Nicaragua Trains

There are no current rail connections between Nicaragua and the neighboring countries. However, there are plans to build a railroad through the length of Central America. That said, like many infrastructure program, this transportation option does not seem to be coming any time soon.
