Taxes and Fees for Entering and Exiting Nicaragua

Nicaragua Fees and Taxes at the Airport

Nicaragua charges a fee for all tourists entering and leaving the country, Whether they do so by planecar, bus or sea. Foreigners flying into Nicaragua have to pay a $5 tax on arrival. There is also a hefty $32 departure tax which is payable when you check in. Although some airlines include this tax in their ticket prices, most do not, so don’t be surprised if you are asked to pay the fee at the airline counter.

Nicaragua Fees and Taxes by Car, Bus or Ferry

Entry and departure taxes for foreigners who visit Nicaragua by bus or car are also steep compared to other Central American countries: foreigners have to pay a $7 entry tax and a $2 departure tax. Among the neighboring countries, Costa Rica does not levy either an entry or exit tax and Honduras allows visitors to exit for free but charges a $3 entry tax.
