Health and Safety in Nicaragua

Even as the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, Nicaragua maintains a reputation for being one of the safest countries in Central America. Be aware of your surroundings and keep expensive jewelry and clothing to a minimum as petty theft and robbery do occur. Before entering Nicaragua the following vaccines are recommended: Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A and B, Rabies and Typhoid. Malaria pills are also suggested if you plan on traveling outside the urban areas, but, as always, consult your doctor before visiting the country.
