Media and Communication in Nicaragua - Tourist Information. Nicaragua

The Nicaraguan constitution guarantees freedom of speech and press. The current Daniel Ortega government has done a fairly decent job respecting these rights, although recently his strategy for getting information out “directly and uncontaminated” has led to international concern for the freedom of speech in Nicaragua. There are three national daily newspapers based in Managua which span the political spectrum from conservative to liberal, pro-Sandinista and anti-Sandinista. The majority of Nicaraguans; however, do not get their news from newspapers, choosing instead to rely on radio and television.
