Getting To and Away
Buses to Jalapa leave from Managua’s Mayoreo Terminal, and the ride can take five and a half to seven hours. It is best to take a morning bus to Jalapa, as afternoon buses arrive late at night, when safety becomes a concern. To get back to Managua, there is a 9:45 am bus which passes through the Mayoreo terminal, near La UCA and finally Mercado Huembes. Buses to Esteli leave at 3:45 and 10 am and take four and a half hours. Buses to Ocotal leave every hour and take an hour and half.
