Hotel Frontera - Hotel Ocotal - Nicaragua

The premier hotel in Ocotal, Hotel Frontera provides lots of amenities, but not a lot of character. Rooms are big and clean, but have something of an institutional look. Attached balconies provide views of an alleyway. Nonetheless, guests will enjoy cable TV, WiFi, private parking, 24 hour reception and use of the hotel pool. Those who haven’t booked a room can still take a swim for $4.25 USD adults, $2.75 USD for children. Towels and use of shower are included in this price.

Additionally, the hotel restaurant and poolside bar are available to non-guests, and at night the atmosphere can be described as either raucously fun or gratingly loud. The menu includes big, meaty combos, which cost about $8 USD and hamburgers and sandwiches which average around $2 USD. Recommended are the chicken soup (which comes in enormous portions) and the garlic shrimp. Breakfast, which is not included, is either Nicaraguan i.e. gallo pinto and eggs, or American i.e. waffles and omelets. Hot water occasionally runs out by nightfall, so take your shower early.
