Ometepe's second city, this quiet town of 3,000 is like a stripped-down version of Moyogalpa. Moyogalpa has the main dock for Rivas, and Altagracia has a twice-weekly ferry across to San Carlos. Moyogalpa has a dozen hotels, and Altagracia has two or three decent ones. It lacks the convenience and amenities of Moyogalpa, but it is a somewhat more central base for exploring the island. It also has a couple of more convenient beaches.

Other neighborhoods in Isla de Ometepe: Merida, Moyogalpa, Isla de Ometepe Neighborhoods and Playa Santo Domingo.
