Ometepe puts on a pretty good show for Nicaragua's Independence Day on September 15, but the best festival to catch is when the towns celebrate their patron saints. In Altagracia stop by from November 12-17 to see the festival celebrated in honor of San Diego de Alcala. Expect bull-runs and fights, sompopo dancing, and a heck of a lot of drinking.
