Safety
Since Rivas is not a common tourist destination, visitors are very high-profile and can be easily targeted. As in many places in Nicaragua, walking around alone at night is not recommended, especially for women. During the day, the streets are crowded with people and relatively safe. Just make sure to exercise caution, keep all valuables out of plain sight and be wary of pickpockets, especially in crowded areas.
