Fishing - Boating San Carlos - Nicaragua

San Carlos is a small town located at both the mouth of the San Juan River and on the edge of Lake Cocibolca. Due to the town's location, fishing is not only an enjoyable recreational activity for tourists, but helps sustain the economy, through trade and tourism. The Silver King Tarpon is available year-round on the river; the lake is known for its plenitude of sea bass. The best time for fishing is between the months of May and October. Between September 14th and 15th, the San Carlos municipal government holds an international fishing competition with various weight and species categories and the opportunity to win prizes, trophies and trips. Ask at the harbor if you'd like to rent a boat and fishing equipment.
