Calle la Calzada, 1.5 blocks from Central Park/Cathedral towards the lake
Granada, Nicaragua

Hotel

V!VA User‘s Description

This is a good place for those on a low budget. It offers a variety of accommodation types, all of which are clean, if scruffy (concrete is falling off some room walls). But what you do get is a friendly hostel with two big communal areas, the front one housing a pleasant seating area with a bar and restaurant. There is also free tea and coffee, a kitchen (which is rare in Granada's most popular hostels), free internet and tour advice.

Room Prices:
Lower:$3 dorm
Higher:$10 twin with bath

Traveler Reviews of Hostal Central

very nice, relaxed place in the heart of the town

Rating: 75%

I really liked the place, and this for many reasons. First of all (and the most important) the atmosphere. I think this is a very cool place for people just passing by for one or two days, but also for those staying in granada for more time. The receptionist (frederic - at least in febrary) is very nice, always smiling and offering to help where he can. The hostal has a lot of little places (open and hidden ;O) just to sit down, listening to the music, eating the wonderful mangos from one of the trees in the patio, planing the day. You have internet, television, a kitchen (what is real luxus in nica!), hot water showers, very clean and nice bathrooms, free coffee and tea.... and not to forget the people from the artesania, also happy to show you how they fabricate their collares, aretes etc etc. very nice people. Then it has a good restaurant and bar with very cheap mojitos ;O). the breakfasts you get (and as staying at the hostel you even get a discount on it) are very tasty and with big portions. The hostel is located just 1,5 blocks away from the zocalo, ideal for going out to one of the nearby bars (for salsa, rumba, merengue..). oh yeah, and i nearly forgot - it´s cheap: just 3 dollar/dormi!! After a very short time you have the feeling of being part of the "central"-community, you know the people, talk to everybody, hang out with people you just know for some hours. It´s so much fun! just go and experience it for yourself!
