Safety

By Mike Karanicolas

Generally speaking, Granada is quite a safe town provided you stick to the tourist areas. The city's historic center is well-enough policed at night that Viva's writer felt comfortable carrying his laptop around. Leave this island of security however and things get dodgy rather quickly. It's definitely not wise to loiter in the lakeside area at night. You'd also be wise to taxi back from Parque Sandino or the Forteleza la Pólrora if it's getting dark.
