Being the most popular surf beach in the San Juan del Sur area, Playa Maderas also happens to be the most crowded. Surfers head here throughout the day because of the consistent break, and the regular offshore breeze. If you’re looking to avoid the masses, the best time to go is in the morning, when many are still in bed from the night before. Although most people come here for day trips, there are a few accommodation options close by. Surf board rentals are available at the beach for $10 per day (you pay the ding repairs), and offer lessons at $10 per hour.
