V!VA User‘s Description
Most of Nicaragua's tourist attractions are located less than 2 hours south of Managua. Among the highlights are:
Granada: A charming town with cobblestone streets and plenty of tourist-friendly spots, Granada is one of Central America’s oldest towns and Nicaragua’s first.
Lago de Nicaragua: The largest lake in Central America (8,264 sq km - 5,135 sq mi) and home to the world’s only freshwater sharks, as well as tarpon, swordfish and sawfish and a rich selection of bird species, the Lago de Nicaragua can be seen on a daytrip boat tour, or through longer stays on one of its islands.

San Juan del Sur: Set in a picturesque horseshoe bay on the Pacific coast, San Juan del Sur is an easy hop from Granada or Managua and provides an excellent and economic beach escape from travels inland.
