There is a persistent rumor that a ferry between Potosí and La Union in El Salvador will finally resume after years of inactivity. Fanning the rumors are government plans to build two new docks at Potosí, with the materieals lined up on shore suggesting that the docks might appear sooner rather than later. Whether the ferries will head to Potosí again (rather than larger Corinto) is unknown. In the meantime, you can hire a local to make the crossing in a fishing boat; ask for Tomas Gonzales, who makes the trip to Potosí on Fridays and returns to El Salvador on Mondays.
