Leon, as one of the most popular cities in Nicaragua, has the greatest variety of accommodation options – although the prices tend to be slightly higher than elsewhere in the country. Outside of Leon, prices drop, but so do accommodation options (in the smaller beach towns you may find there are only one or two choices). The coast hides hidden gems, just make sure you have an idea of where you plan to stay so you don’t get stranded sleeping on the sand. Chinandega also has plenty of hotels, but the heat is intense enough that you should probably consider paying more for air conditioning.
