These official bureaus are a good place to start when it comes to locating the best tours and most reputable tour agencies. Even far from the cities, though, it’s not difficult to find a local guide to take you up a volcano or across the country on horseback. Make sure to ask in Leon for cathedral tours, volcano boarding trips, hikes and adventures in area reserves. Other popular excursions include tours to Cerrania Ecologico Municipal Los Limones (ask at the Tonela city hall), the brick factories in La Paz Centro (ask at the Casa de Cultura) and Chichigalpa’s Flor de Caña distillery (call the city hall two weeks in advance of your visit).
