Bigfoot Hostel is a new place, run by enthusiastic and ultra-friendly Aussie, Darryn and his local staff. The hostel is a treat to stay at. A popular bar in front leads to large dorm rooms. The rooms are located around a grassy, green courtyard with hammocks and wicker rocking chairs. The dorms and the four private rooms are simply decorated, with emphasis on being clean and cheap; there is a kitchen with free coffee. There is a good vibe and it is a good place to meet other travelers, providing it is not already full. The tours run from the hostel include trips up Volcán Cerro Negro to go volcano boarding. The boarding trips cost $23, not including park entrance fees.

Location:
Av. Santiago Arguello between Ca. NE and 2a Ca. NE (opposite Via Via)

big foot hostel

THE BIG FOOT HOSTEL turn out to be great in the beginning, but as soon as you ask the management a question they get very offended, and called us rude....they started construction work for one week, and also paintingwork of the toilets, resulting in a very strong smell, it was impossible to be in the room, but no money back when we tried to move. the only answer was that it was not their problem that we got headache of the smell and that it is the 3 world that cause that the internet shuts down every day..! Think twice before you stay here. looks nice on the surface but as soon it is a "problem" they dont want to help you at all!!

big foot

big rooms mean lots of roomates. there is definitely NOT a no-alcohol policy. there's a bar in the front and they open it up for live bands that come through town. lounge area is nice and full of hammocks. not quite the easiest place to get a full nights sleep. more for the traveler looking for a good time

In a word...

Average. It is a rather tight-run ship. The kitchen closes at certain hours, lights out during others and no alcohol allowed on premises. Also they need to get computers, when you can´t even use their precious labtop for Wi-Fi for two minutes to look up a number, you know you are in strict territory.

Bigfoot is a bad place to stay

The owner has a bad attitude toward his guests. For example, to an Australian he openly admits he doesn't like Aussies. I wouldn't stay here again and would recommend staying elsewhere.

Bigfoot Hostel

I loved this place so much we stayed for four days longer than planned. It's a really good value, the staff is excellent and the facilities are really good. Can't ask for more.

Food poisoning

My friends and I stayed at Bigfoot and got serious food poisoning at their Italian restaurant eating carbonara. Apparently the fridge had been left off a few days but I guess that's Nicaragua... We were all very sick the next day. Not surprisingly, that was the end of our stay!

Lock your door

This was a GREAT place to stay... Unfortunately I came with a bunch of friends and we filled one of the dorm rooms. We were all in and out so we did not lock our door at night. Someone vandalized our room. This hostel is fun for young travelers, but be aware that the party atmosphere may land you with some mess on your floor.

Great place

I stayed here a few times and I loved it. They made me feel very welcome.

Loved the laid back atmosphere

The fact that it has been built by a traveler who knows what is needed is great. There are safety boxes in the room, a massive kitchen with with fridges and freezers that is open long hours for guests. Beautiful gardens to relax and the place is cheap.
