Capital of the Chiriquí Province, David is known for its rich timber, coffee, cocao, rice, bananas, cattle, and sugar production. Deespite modernization, it has maintained traditions reaching as far back as colonial times, when it carried the name San José de David. Friendly, attractive, and safe, David is also the main entrance to the Chiriquí Highlands and Bocas del Toro. Offering a variety of hotels and retaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, this city is a good place to kick back and relax before heading off to other destinations, or hopping the boarder to Costa Rica.
