Away from the bustle of Lima’s downtown lies the green park of Plaza BolÃvar, flanked by three of Lima’s more interesting museums. Travel back 8,000 years as you peruse the Pre-Columbian artifacts at the yellow painted monolith, the Museo Nacional de AntropologÃa, ArqueologÃa e Historia del Perú, home to two 2,500-year-old mummies recovered near the Nasca Lines and other national gems not to be missed. The private Museo Arqueológico Rafael Larco Herrera, just across the plaza, equally warrants a visit. Larco’s museum has one of the largest collections of Peruvian cultural artifacts as well as an exhibit of ancient erotic art that never ceases to amaze visitors. Don’t forget the Museum of National History, which displays art and artifacts from the colonial and republican eras.
