Miraflores Locks

Museum

By Will Gray

This is the best place to find out about the Canal and watch it in action. About 14km out of the city, this newly created visitors centre and museum sits right on the edge of the double lock that takes boats down the final step to the Pacific Ocean or the first step to the Atlantic. Inside there are four floors of information on the canal and its surroundings, whch takes around an hour to get through. Outside there is a viewing deck where you can observe boats going through the locks with full commentary (in English and Spanish) detailing what the boats are and where they are going.

Entrance $8 for museum, free for lower viewing deck.
