Panama City has several shopping malls. The largest and most most expensive is Mall Multiplaza. Albrook Mall, near the bus terminal, is a good backpacker mall with cheaper prices and wide variety. The neighborhood of El Cangrejo has a wide selection of luxury and specialty shops for the high-end traveler – from leatherwork to panama hats.
Panama is a popular place to buy artesanias, particularly from the country's indigenous minorities. You'll find shops at Mi Pueblito, as well as Panama Vieja. For cheaper prices, hit the street vendors around Casco Viejo. Plaza Francia and the area around the waterfront always have a few people plying their wares.
