Overview

Bocas is a popular place for surfing and is home to the Atlantic's biggest wave, the Silverback, which was ridden by the Red Bull Surf Team for a video in March 2006. That may be too big for public riding, but there are plenty of breaks to get the heart racing with Paunch (reef break) and Bluff (beach break) the closest to Colon. The La Iguana surf school, run by a Spaniard with a similar school in his homeland, offers cheap customized lessons for beginners and transportation to top sites for surfers. They also run a surf camp and have a successful surf team that competes in international competitions.
