Food is good in Paris, but not cheap. So how best to enjoy the ambience on a budget? Head to the local bakers and for only a few coins splurge on a large baguette and some sweet pastries. Then to the local markets to stock up on ham, cheese and yoghurt. Grab a bottle of wine and a blanket and head to the Eiffel Tower. Expansive manicured lawns are the perfect viewing spot - especially on a summer's night when, for 20 mins from each hour, the tower's thousands of light sparkle in a spectacular show that has tourists and locals oohing and aahing - and sighing when it ends. Romantic for couples, fun for families, ideal for thoughts alone - there is no better restaurant in the world.
