Approximately 3,000 works of art from classic to contemporary are displayed here in dozens of rooms that form an upward corkscrew around the central staircase. The museum also has an auditorium for special presentations and an extensive art library.

A sister museum, the MACRo (Museo de Arte Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario) was created to accommodate the Castagnino’s growing collection of contemporary art. The 10 story high building rests on the shore of the Paraná river, and a glass elevator runs the length of it, providing a fantastic view of the city. But the museum’s most distinguishing feature is the set of eight, 25-foot grain silos attached to the back, painted in bright blue and purple. The MACRo’s approximately 300-piece collection is one of the finest collections of contemporary Argentine art.
