Palermo's Best Heladerías

Location:

A list of the best heladerías in Palermo

The leafy streets of Palermo are speckled with heladerías, where sugar-hungry tourists and porteños can be found licking their way through a sunny afternoon. In this neighborhood alone, there are several options when it comes to ice cream. For starters, there is the standard chain, Freddo (Arenales 3360, www.freddo.com.ar), where one can find all the usual flavors, from fruity to chocolatey. Then there’s Chocorisimo (Borges 2145, Tel: 4832-3487) which, as its name suggests, is for those with chocolate on the brain who want something a little more chunky and rich. The signature flavor, chocorisimo, is loaded with chocolate chunks, dulce de leche, and almonds, but there are also flavors such as yogurisimo, which comes with orange jelly swirled into cream-flavored ice cream with a hint of lemon. The popular Persicco (Salguero 2591, corner of Cabello, www.persicco.com) has several outdoor tables and is slightly off the most trodden streets of Palermo, next to a small park. Persicco’s offerings are kosher, and include flavors such as Irish cream, chocolate Persicco (chocolate with chocolate chips, cognac, and nuts) and mixed fruit. For something a little more sexy, or perhaps a late-night fix, head to Clara (Borges 1660,), where ice cream is served alone or mixed with booze in this trendy lounge-like environment just off of Plaza Cortázar. A new spot, called Tazz (Serrano 1556, www.tazzbars.com), does the same, with pool tables, loud music, and a '60s diner vibe.
