Argentina Internet

Internet use is very widespread in Argentina, with the greatest concentration of internet cafes in and around big cities.  Any area that gets tourists will most likely have at least internet connections in hotels or hostels,  however in remote parts of the mountains internet facilities may not be as readily available.  In Buenos Aires, internet access can also be found in some of the many locutorios, or call centers, scattered throughout the city. Expect to pay between  $1-3 per hour.

Skype is an internet based calling system, so in theory wherever there is internet, you can use Skype to call home.  The program has to be downloaded onto the computer before you can use Skype, though, so if you are at an internet cafe without Skype already downloaded onto the computer, the process of trying to do so could be long and expensive (assuming you are paying for internet).  Argentina, however, is one of the most technologically advanced South American countries and finding Skype in internet cafes shouldn't be a problem.  To use Skype, you have to establish an account, which is free if you are calling other internet Skype users.  Calls made to landlines or cell phones cost a minimal amount of money and can be paid for through the website.

Argentina Webcam

Finding webcams in Argentina shouldn't be a problem.  Argentina has an abundance of internet cafes which are generally well-equiped with current technology.  Finding webcams in less touristy towns might pose more of a challenge, however.  Keep your eyes open for internet cafes that look like tourist hubs or ask the staff at your hotel or hostel for the best internet cafes in town with webcam technology.

WiFi in Argentina

WiFi can be found throughout Argentina, though it is easier to connect to WiFi in big cities such as Buenos Aires.  Free WiFi is even available in some cafes, restaurants, hotels and public places.  As with connecting to WiFi anywhere, you will need a computer which has wireless capabilities.  If you are paying for WiFi, you will have to get a password from the provider which will allow you to access their network.
