FERRYING BETWEEN ARGENTINA AND NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

There are ferry connections that run back and forth between Buenos Aires and Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. In the summertime, there is also ferry service to the resort town of Piriápolis. Also it is possible to reach the town of Colonia via ferry. From the river port of Tigre, there is passage to the Uruguayan port towns Nueva Palmira and Carmelo. Another popular crossing point is the bus/boat shuttle between Puerto Montt and Bariloche.

MAKING THE VOYAGE FROM EUROPE

If you cannot brush aside those romantic ideas of an ocean voyage from Europe to Argentina, it can still be accomplished. But be warned arriving to South America via the high seas is not as convenient as an overnight flight and opportunities are not as plentiful as in the past.
