Skiing

Yearning to escape the unbearable heat of a North American summer? Argentina┬┤s breathtaking mountain resorts provide the perfect wintry escape, offering some of the world┬┤s best downhill skiing along the country's western border, nestled among the incomparable Andes. Every year, from mid-June to mid-October, Mendoza, the Lake District and Ushuaia play host to the world┬┤s ski and snowboard enthusiasts. While Mendoza often offers the best snow, there's more of a nightlife in the Lake District, where the resorts are closer to the nearest towns. Many of the resorts boast large ski schools that draw instructors from across the globe.

The two largest resorts are Las Le├▒as in Mendoza, which has more downhill slopes than any other place in South America, and Cerro Catedral in Bariloche. Cerro Chapelco in San Martin offers an opportunity for some unique excursions, such as forest skiing, formidable chutes and bowls, and off-piste touring.
