It is not in a traveler’s best interest to tote around travelers checks on a journey across Argentina. The checks cannot be used as regular currency in 99 percent of places, while less and less banks will accept them. And the business establishments that do recognize them are quick to charge significant commission fees. Casas de cambio are the best bet to exchange travelers checks for cash.
