Even before La Plata was founded, horse races took place in the Rivadavia area with pure breed horses. Inaugurated in 1884, the racecourse of La Plata routinely attracts both locals and provincial visitors who follow the sport closely. Even without placing a bet, this can be fruitful experience in learning about cultural interests of Argentineans. Located on Av. 44 and 116, the racecourse is open everyday from 6:30 until 10:30, however, make sure to check with the tourism office to find out special events.
