Whether you are traveling with children or not, the 53-acre theme park located at a 15-minute drive from downtown La Plata is the kind of attraction that will bring you right back to childhood in the middle of South America. Built in 1949, this theme park is composed of a variety of structures ranging from Oriental palaces, restaurants, public office buildings and even a chapel made to a scale that would fit a 10 year-old. It is said Walt Disney himself visited the Republic of Children and based his own Disneyland on the ideas of this innovative attraction. Unlike Disneyland, however, tickets to go into the small-scale, big-size city is only $3, seniors and children under the age of 7 get in free of charge. Hours are 10am to 7pm.
