Like any good tourist destination, Mar del Plata does not skimp when it comes to shopping. The bustling Peatonal San Martin that stripes through the city, connecting Plaza San Martin and the Plazoleta de Las Provincias, is a bustling pedestrian mall with hundreds of shops. For more upscale shopping and international brands, including those associated with Surfing, Guemes street is a popular place for an afternoon stroll, obligatory ice cream in hand. The Mercado de Artesanos, near Plaza San Martin at the intersection of Diagonal Pueyrredon and Hipolito Yrigoyen, is a row of booths where local artisans show off their wares everyday during the summer months.
