Tandil caters equally to nature, culture, and history lovers and could honestly boast it offers something for everyone. Between Sierras and vast green expanses, there’s no denying it’s beautifully situated, making outdoor adventures a great way to explore.
Tandil is also a rather mystic place; locals believe their town is home to several of the real wonders of the world. Allegedly the hill where Christ was crucified, two giant rocks which teeter on outcrops without falling (well, one fell but has since been replaced)… crowds continue to be drawn to these places, undeterred by either questionable geographical location or replicas.
At Tandil’s center, the Plaza Independencia is lined with French inspired architecture and filled with bronze statues of the same influence. A couple of museums (Bellas Artes and Tradicionalista fuerte Independencia) are worth a peek, though they are only open late in the afternoon.
For water babies, Lago del Fuerte offers swimming and watersports.
