Pristine unique landscapes, amazing glaciers and incredible wildlife are all seen during an Antarctic tour. Tours run from November through to March as for the rest of the year polar ice and extreme winter conditions prevent travel. January and February are generally the best time to see most penguins and March is the best month for whale watching. Expeditions vary in both price and duration and most trips leave from Ushuaia. The main options are 8-12 day trips that usually include the western shores of the Antarctic Peninsula, the Southern Shetland Islands and the Wedell Sea. Longer tours last up to 20 days and also include stops in the Malvinas/Falklands Islands and the South Georgia Islands. Many tours include activities such as kayaking, diving and camping. Informative on-board lectures are often provided by the expedition staff.
