V!VA User‘s Description
Located in central BA, Almagro may not be the most well known barrio in the bustling cosmo capital, but is becoming more popular due to a recent revitalization. After the sun sets and the locals have had their fill of Argentine beef and wine, this barrio opens up its underground tango clubs and the energy of the country's favorite dance takes over.
In 1880, the barrio was officially incorporated into the Federal district. Due to an influx of immigrants, the area was the birthplace of a variety of tango dances. Carlos Gardel, the famous tango singer, was a regular visitor and even recorded a song dubbed, "Almagro."
It may not be as glamorous as Palermo or as stately as Recoleta, but what it lacks in sophistication, it definitely makes up in flavor.
