Barracas Overview

Though until recently a relatively run-down neighborhood with an industrial feel and not much to offer the average tourist, Barracas is currently experiencing a surge of new life, as artists and edgier 20-somethings turn old crumbling warehouses into lofts. Quiet streets serve as refuge to the nearby bustle of San Telmo and the city center, though a bad reputation (and perhaps not without some basis, streets can feel a bit desolate at night) have left the area not often frequented by tourists or porteños that don't live there.
