V!VA User‘s Description

Accessed from the Costanera Sur boardwalk, the reserve is the best place to take a break from the noise and commotion of the city. Large enough for a hearty jog or bike ride (bikes can be rented at the entrance or in nearby San Telmo), raised dirt roads bisect four lakes until they reach the endless horizon of the Rio de la Plata. Increasingly popular for ornithologists, the reserve boasts an impressive array of over 200 bird species; iguanas and large rodents can also be seen next to the trials. Views of the commercial district’s skyscrapers with huge fields of cortaderas (foxtail pampas grass) in the foreground are simply stunning, while benches and grassy areas beneath willow trees are perfect for a picnic, afternoon reading, or a quick siesta. If you don’t feel like bringing food, the entrance to the reserve is lined with carts grilling meat - take your chances, some are very good and others are not - where sandwiches are sold. To check out the nocturnal beauty of the reserve, call to find out the schedule for guided moonlight tours.
