V!VA User‘s Description

Literarily translated, mercado de las pulgas is flea market, but this doesn't do the place justice. Inside a huge rag-tag structure in the Colegiales neighborhood, patchwork shops and serpentine pathways are piled high with anything and everything; refurbished designer lamps, old metal foosball tables, velvet Elvises and strange paraphernalia from the five continents color in a more basic selection of antiques and modernist furniture. It can feel more like going to a museum after a hurricane, but don't forget that you can buy the things you see. Due to the large concentration of shops, prices are generally reasonable, but not often marked on the items, and bargaining is expected, so don't accept the first figure. The export boom after the 2001 crisis has cleared out many of the choice items, and most valuable treasures are either gone or priced accordingly, but it's still worth it to poke around.
